Microsoft and Apple plan to force Advertisements on Users

I don’t know how you feel about it but to me this is another form of cyber bullying. Microsoft has made its plan public regarding advertisement on windows 7 platform. There has been a deal between Microsoft and advertisers like Pepsi, Porsche and Twentieth Century fox that will leave us with ads on our desktops. Similarly Apple is also planning moves to make it mandatory for users of iPhone and iPods to listen to promotional ads.

A patent application by Apple in United States suggests that they might be pondering over some compulsory advertisement plans. The application mentions it at “enforced routines”. These would be sound or video clips that will be served to the users without an option to skip through. Though Apple might use them to promote its own products we can’t rule out third party ads as well. It carries CEO Steve Job’s name, so this simply cannot be another experimental patent.

Windows, on the other hand plans to screw (sorry if I sound rude, it was the lightest word I could use right now) our desktops by splashing borders with ads and adding promotional sound clips. The advertisers are welcoming this announcement with open arms. (and much more) But the consumer is the King and it remains to be seen what remains of the popular OS after the users have had their say. Windows also has plans of lunching a special edition of Office 2010 with preloaded systems that would be sponsored.
