Real time search War : Microsoft leads Google

Google vs Bing (src:erodov.com)

We had reported the ongoing talks between Google – Twitter – Microsoft for a non exclusive deal that would allow the Search giants to access Twitter feeds to provide us with real time search results. Microsoft used the current web 2.0 conference underway in San Francisco to announce its deal with twitter. Google followed suit with an official blog post from its Vice President of Search, Marissa Meyer.

So the real time search war just got fiercer. At this point of time it seems Microsoft is leading Google in the race to attract search market with real time search results. Bing already has a stand alone twitter search functionality with the trending topics as well. Plus its one up on Google with a deal with Facebook to index and search public Facebook profiles.

Some parts of Twitter feeds are already indexed and displayed in search results by most of the prominent search engines. Public Twitter and Facebook profiles are already appearing for search terms. But real time status updates are not available with Google and Bing yet and that is why they are after the live social media feeds from Twitter and Facebook.
